Grow a beard this December and raise funds for Bowel Cancer. Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. However it shouldn’t be. It’s treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early.

• It typically takes two to six months to achieve full beard growth over time.
• Facial hair facts show that 33% of men in America and 55% of men all over the world have facial hair.
• Women who are into casual flings prefer men with a light stubble beard.
• Based on facial hair alone, 41% of women find cleanshaven men the most attractive.
• 79.6% of men who can grow a beard said they consider themselves attractive, according to the recent beard statistics.
• Various statistics on beards show that people will have a more positive impression of a person’s character if they don’t have facial hair.
• Clean-shaven men are more likely to carry infection-causing bacteria on their skin.
• Beard facts indicate that men with beards look more aggressive.
• Beards can add as much as eight years to a man’s look.

16 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence - 25TH NOV - 9TH DEC

16 Days of Action against Domestic Violence is aimed at businesses to support them to take action against domestic abuse and violence. Employers have a legal obligation to assess dynamic risk and support the health and safety and wellness of their employees. Companies can do more to aid their employees who endure domestic violence, to train those who witness it, and to protect staff as a whole, with the goal of securing safety and mitigating financial loss. Spanning across 16 days from 25th November to 10th December, a theme will be identified each day to explore the various forms of domestic violence. In doing so, the workplace will be better equipped to acknowledge the signs that indicate it may be going on.

Why was it started?

16 Days of Action against Domestic Violence stems from the original movement, 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence which started in 1991. Since 1991, 5,167 groups in 187 countries have contributed to promoting and supporting these 16 Days.

Who can support?

Schools around the world have dedicated time and manpower to this movement as well, as demonstrated by institutions such as Rutgers, who have been extremely active and outspoken, generating their own toolkit on how to approach domestic violence, and much more. Public sector work by the above organisations, and hundreds of others are exemplary and indicate that people are dedicated to making the general public understand the impact of domestic violence on society, through blogging, community projects, tweeting, and putting on exhibitions.

Research has Found:

25% of women are affected by domestic violence during their adult lifetimes 16% of men are affected by domestic violence during their adult lifetimes 75% of people who endure domestic violence are targeted at work 58% of abused women miss at least three days of work a month.
